Rothwell Town 0 - 0 Stourbridge

In a game that was always going to be difficult against third placed Stourbridge, Rothwell may consider this a point gained as a goal-less draw was played out this afternoon at Cecil Street.

It was a match without a great deal of chances, but Stourbridge hit the crossbar early on in the game from around 8-9 yards. Then midway through the first half, Rothwell's new signing Neil Lazarus - who impressed on his debut - hit a rasping 35 yarder which skimmed the crossbar. Tom Smith was kept busy by the Stourbridge players but without really having any saves to make. The away team played to their strengths and looked to use the height of their attackers, but Smith dealt well with the high balls into the box.

The second half was fairly even, and Rothwell had a couple of chances to score; Adam Sturgess poked wide from the penalty spot, and late on Ricky Miller could have broken the deadlock when he stretched to meet a cross and with the keeper beaten it agonisingly just needed a touch, but it was to end a stalemate.

Rothwell will now look to Tuesday's home game against Willenhall Town to pick up three more points (k/o 7.45pm)
