Woodford United 2 - 2 Rothwell Town

Rothwell Town remain in fourth place after twice leading in this clash at Woodford United. It was a game in which Rothwell came up against some strong physical tactics with elbows and legs flying in an attempt to intimidate the Bones and the referee. It was Rothwell who went in front 17 minutes into the first half when - following a corner - a goalmouth mix-up resulted in Woodford's Ben Milner sticking the ball in his own net.

On 28 minutes, Woodford broke away, and despite looking a couple of yards offside the linesman allowed their player to run on and put the cross in for Graham Hawkins to head home to equalise and take the teams into the half time break at 1-1.

The second half had a similar pattern to the first, with Woodford putting long high balls into the box at every chance and Rothwell's defence heading clear. Five minutes into the action, Rothwell were again in front when from a break-away, Darren Lynch slotted away for his ninth goal in ten games. Then, almost from the restart Woodford were again level when Nick Gordon forced the ball home following a corner. The remainder of the game was much as described before with Woodford humping lots of long high balls into Rothwell's box, while Rothwell were attempting to play some football.

The result keeps Rothwell in the playoff places, with 35 of 42 games now played.
