Bedworth United 2 - 1 Rothwell Town
Alan Biley felt his side were hard
done by after they lost to struggling Bedworth United. The Rothwell
manager said: "I felt that we were a little unlucky. We were
a bit sloppy at the start and towards the end of the first half
let them go 2-0 which left us with an uphill battle."
" The lads responded brilliantly
in the second half and we got a goal within three minutes. We were
pushing forward but then the sending-off made things harder for
us. I do feel that our second-half performance made us worthy of
a draw. But sometimes you just have to accept it when things don't
go your way."
Prior to this defeat Rothwell had
gone seven games unbeaten, scoring 18 goals on the way and only
conceding five. However, it took Bedworth only four minutes to take
the lead when Jae Martin's cross was headed home by Thomas Starkey.
And with one minute until the break they doubled their advantage
as Adam Kinder broke down the right and his cross was fired home
by Michael Feely.
On the restart Rothwell looked brighter
and it took just two minutes to pull a goal back. A free-kick from
Neil Lazarus into the danger area was flicked on by Ricky Miller.
darren Lynch got the final touch to give keeper Craig Johnson no
chance. The Bones continued to push forward but were rocked by the
dismissal of Adam Sturgess on 70 minutes. He clashed with Martin
in an off-the-ball incident but referee Mr Gratton only saw his
retaliation and produced a red card.
Even with 10 men the Bones worked
hard for an equaliser. But it was not to be. Bedworth might have
even gone further ahead in the dying minutes but James Woods' shot
hit the post. So, all in all, it was a disappointing day for Biley's
boys.
