Barton Rovers 0 - 0 Rothwell Town
Rothwell Town boss Alan Biley hailed
this stalemate as "a super result" after his patched up
side kept their physical hosts at bay. With
passing football at a premium on a dire pitch, the Bones found themselves
trying to adapt to a makeshift long-ball game and chances were scarce.
However, Rothwell still felt they
had a perfectly good winning goal chalked off 20 minutes from the
end when Ricky Miller was adjudged to have pushed a Rovers defender
- even though the assistnat referee did not flag for an infringement.
"Ricky chased a ball through and the two players fell over
each other. There was no foul. in fact if anything the defender
blocked Ricky off, " said Biley. "Ricky got up and put
the ball into the net and the referee then ruled it was a push in
the back and it was never that."
Miller had also had the game's other
notable chance in the first half when his sharp header was well
saved by the home keeper. But, aside of that, the game was a tough
battle and the last thing the Bones needed.
"We only had one fully fit substitute,
five lads in the starting team were carrying injuries and we had
some players like Adam Sturgess playing out of position - so we
were a real walking wounded. But we battled really well," said
Biley.
Despite picking up only one point
from the Easter games, the Bones remain in play-off contention after
results went in their favour. only Bromsgrove and Chasetown won
while Evesham, Willenhall, Woodford and Stourbridge all lost.
"We've actually had a very good
day as we have gained a point on nearly all our rivals yesterday.
It has been a good result for us and we are still in the play-off
race." added Biley.
