Stamford Town 1 - 0 Rothwell Town (ht 0-0)

Darren Capps was sent off as a depleted Rothwell Town side slumped to an unfortunate derby defeat yesterday. The Bones were without the banned Michael Boyle-Chong, plus Andy Brown, Andy Almond and Ryan Amoo all rang in with flu symptoms. Although Amoo was still able to take a place on the bench, he is left waiting for his debut in Dave Wiliams' side.

Rothwell had an early escape as Martin Wormall hit the post then Paul Rice blocked a shot on the line and Tom Smith pulled off a superb save. Soon afterwards Smith denied Kevin Childs but the visitors worked their way into the game with Joe Cossey's 20-yarder going just over the bar beating keeper Gary Hateley, back from a one-match loan at Kettering Town.

Hateley denied Justin Jenkins who went close again just before the break while a shot by Steve Towers was also deflected wide.Rothwell were still holding their own in the second half but what proved to be the winner came on 58 minutes as Wormall's speculative shot from 20 yards took a deflection and left Smith wrong-footed.

The Bones fought back strongly as Jenkins, Towers, and martin Flannigan all went close. A draw would have been a fair result but Rothwell's misery was complete on 87 minutes as Capps was red-carded for elbowing.
