Leamington 1 - 0 Rothwell Town

Ian Jackson was full of praise for his Rothwell Town players after they narrowly missed out on a point at Southern League Division One Midlands leaders Leamington.

The Bones were beaten by a single strike on the half-hour mark. But Jackson said: "We were the better side for at least 25 minutes in the first half and the last 25 minutes of the second so I think we deserved a point at worst."

" We have gone to the league leaders and contained them to a single goal from a set-piece. They even admitted that we were the best test they have faced all season which was a great compliment. I have no doubt that if we continue to play like this we'll do well in the league. We just need that extra bit of luck."

Leamington's winning goal came when a free-kick from Liam Rennalls was headed home at the far post by skipper Aaron Parkinson. Tom Smith was also called upon to make two impressive saves to keep the hosts from extending their lead.

Rothwell fought their way back into the game after the break in search of an equaliser. Despite dominating, especially in the last 25 minutes, they failed to find the back of the net. But there will be many positives for Jackson's men to take into another tough test next Saturday when they face second-plced Chasetown.
