Chasetown 2 - 0 Rothwell Town

Rothwell Town were punished for two mistakes as they were beaten by an impressive Chasetown side. Bones manager Ian Jackson said: "It's frustrating to work so hard against such a good side and then be killed off by two mistakes which led to their goals."

"We created the best four chances of the game and should have been 2-0 up before they scored. But once they did score I think the game was over for us."

"It was a good performance by us in many ways, though. We understood what we were up against and raised our game, especially in the second half. We're creating chances so that's very pleaseing. If we weren't then I'd have to worry. Byt they were desreved winners in the end. I think they will we league champions."

Chasetown scored their first after 17 minutes after a mistake in Rothwell's midfield allowed Craig Holland to fire home an unstoppable shot from 22 yards. Kyle Perry doubled Chasetown's advantage eight minutes before the break - although not without help from some questionable decision-making by the linesman.

Rothwell pushed forward in the second half and Jonathan Stead had a one-on-one with home keeper Lee Evans just past the hour but chipped the ball onto the top of the net.

So at the final whistle the hosts were worthy winners. But Rothwell will rue their missed chances.

Rothwell face Willenhall Town on Wednesday evening.

Due to the recent floodlight vandalism, the game will be played at Kettering Town's A-Line Arena (7.45pm).
