Rothwell
Town 1 - 1 Willenhall Town
If Rothwell Town had converted their
chances they would have been out of sight by half-time.
In their temporary surroundings of
Kettering Town's A-Line Arena the Bones led for over 50 minutes
but were unable to finish their openings. The worst offender was
Fazel Koriya who had several golden opportunites to put Rothwell
out of sight.
In the eight minute he had only the
keeper to beat but fired wide of the inviting target. But the hosts
took the lead on 24 minutes when Koriya slipped a marvellous pass
across the six-yard box and it was forced home at the far post by
Michael Boyle-Chong.
Willenhall were a lively outfit and
John Williams - the ex-Birmingham City and Coventry City striker
- kept the home defence on its toes together with the ever lively
Anthony Newton.
In the second half again it was Rothwell
who spurned some decent openings. They failed to take their chances
and were made to pay when the visitors forced home an equaliser
with 13 minutes to go.
It came from their fourth corner in
the space of a minute and it was eventually forced over the line
thanks to a deflection off the unfortunate Ryan Collis - who otherwise
had an excellent game. Both teams went for the victory but neither
could produce the elusive goal to seal the points.
Bones chairman Peter Bradley was left
delighted with how things went in the Bones temporary home while
the floodlights at Cecil Streetare repaired following the vandalism
at the Bones' ground. He said: "It went like clockwork and
we got so much help from Kevin Meikle (Poppies managing director).
"He was absolutely brilliant
and we couldn't have asked for any more help. Everyone was fantastic.
There were a few Kettering supporters there having a look and I
hope they enjoyed what they saw."
The Bones have no game on Saturday
but are due to host Long Buckby in the NFA Hillier Cup on Tuesday.
If the work to repair the Cecil Street
lights is not completed in time, the game will be switched to Long
Buckby's ground.
