Rothwell
beef up attack
Rothwell Town v Evesham United
Saturday 10th November - 3pm
kick-off
Rothwell Town have beefed up their
attack ahead of taking on one of Division One Midlands' meanest
defences tomorrow.
Scott Cross has arrived from Premier Division neighbours Corby Town
as has former Stamford man Ian Cooper from Spalding United.
The pair are the second and third new strikers
to move to Cecil Street in the past week following the signing of
former Turkish professional Gokan Ulkan.
Bones boss Ian Jackson has also strengthened
his defence by signing former Cyprus under-18 captain Andreas Kattus
from Long Buckby.
He feels his side now need to start winning
games after coming through a tough run against some of the section's
top sides – including Leamington and Chasetown – which
has left the Bones fourth-bottom of the table.
"We played well in those games against
the top sides. But we still lost them so we need to start getting
some results" said Jackson.
"We're through those harder games and
we have some supposedly easier games coming up, if there is such
a thing as an easy game in this division, and we need to start picking
up points and wins.
"We've brought in some good players
who can add something to the team and I quietly fancy our chances
even though Evesham are tough opponents."
The Robins arrive at Cecil Street having scored
just eight league goals all season but conceded only seven. And
they are looking for a something of a quick local double after dumping
the Steelmen out of the FA Trophy in midweek.
"We know what to expect from
Evesham. They are a tough and uncompromising side and it will be
hard for us," said Jackson.
"They beat us earlier in the season. But
both their goals that day were down to mistakes by us rather than
them doing anything special.
"They've drawn a lot of games this season
so we know what they're about and we need to be ready for that.
Confidence in the squad is still good and we've brought in some
players with good pedigree who can improve our chances."
Rothwell chairman Peter Bradley confirmed that
the floodlights at Cecil Street will be fully operational again
in time for this weekend's game following some safety checks which
were carried out following repairs after vandals cut the cables
in three lights last month.
