Bones sign Thompson

Striker Steve Thompson has signed for Rothwell Town, from Ridgeons Eastern Counties side Godmanchester Rovers.

The 30-year-old can play in attack or midfield and Bones boss Ian Jackson hopes he will be the man to improve Rothwell's sparse goalscoring record this season.

"He's a big lad with Premier Division experience in the Eastern Counties so I hope he'll be a good addition for us," said Jackson.

"He can play almost anywhere up front or in midfield and he's excellent at bringing other players into the game as well as scoring a few himself.

"Whoever plays alongside him will greatly benefit from his play, whether he's scoring the goal or creating the chance for someone else."

Thompson could make his debut at home to Brackley Town on Tuesday night (26th Feb) in the Northants Senior Cup semi-final.
