Rothwell Town boss Ian Jackson felt
this Division One Midlands derby draw was the right result. And
he was pleased to see his Bones side keep a clean sheet for the
first time since they beat Stourport Swifts back on December 4th.
"In all fairness 1-1 would probably
have been the right result. But in truth neither goalkeeper really
had a serious save to make," he said.
"Tony Thorpe had a goal disallowed
for them and Brett Donnelly hit the bar when he really should have
scored. But, aside of that, I never felt Barton would get past us
and overall I thought it was a very fair result and we put in a
good performance."
"We started very well and had
the better of the first 10 minutes. We got a little ragged in the
10 minutes before half-time and Barton got on top."
"They then had the better of
the first 20 minutes in the second half. But, in fairness to us,
it was only from set-pieces and not from open play."
"We handled them well and then
looked good again towards the end. It was a game neither side deserved
to lose and we can be pleased with that."
With Woodford United not playing,
the Bones are now only five points behind their county neighbours
with two games in hand and could yet finish out of the bottom three
this season.
