Bromsgrove Rovers 1 - 1 Rothwell Town
Rothwell continued
their unbeaten start to the season with a good point away at Bromsgrove
Rovers, one of the favourites for promotion this season. It was
Rothwell who took the lead when Justin Jenkins extended his scoring
run to three games with a well taken goal on 14 minutes. Jenkins
received the ball in the box, used some great skill to turn the
defender and slotted home to put the Bones one up. Chris Difante
missed a great chance before the break to double the lead when the
ball was crossed into the box, but for once Difante didn't have
his scoring boots on and mis-hit his shot at the Bromsgrove keeper.
As the second half
began, Bromsgrove came out strong as they looked to fight back.
They grabbed their equaliser in the 63rd minute, when the ball was
chipped in from the right and Davis volleyed in. Shaun Allen - who
was given his chance in the Rothwell goal following Tom Smith's
injury - made two great saves to deny Bromsgrove the lead and Rothwell
could have even snatched the winner at the death. With only a couple
of minutes remaining, Justin Jenkins was fed in with a great ball.
He raced away towards the goal and though his shot was heading goalwards,
the Bromsgrove defender managed to make it and clear the ball off
the line.
So, the Bones could
so nearly have snatched all three points at the end but as it ended,
a good point in a potentially difficult fixture.
Rothwell now face
Spalding United at Cecil Street on Bank Holiday Monday (28th) with
three points the aim.
