Aylesbury United 1 - 2 Rothwell Town

Alan Biley enjoyed his first away win as Rothwell Town manager today as the team secured a good 2-1 victory at Aylesbury United.

The first half was very even, with chances going begging at both ends. The deadlock was broken however on 38 minutes when Adam Sturgess headed home a corner for the travelling Bones to put Rothwell 1-0 up at the break.

Rothwell controlled the game early on in the second half and struck a second goal on around 55 mins when Chris Difante's cross into the box was met by Martin Flannigan ten yards out with a scissor-kick volley to put the Bones 2-0 up - his third goal of the season.

Aylesbury then stepped up a gear and put the Rothwell defence under some pressure which resulted in a goal around 15 minutes from time. The ball was played long over the top and as Tom Smith came out to meet the oncoming Aylesbury player, the ball was chipped over the top of him to decrease Rothwell's lead.

The Bones defence, slightly below-strength, held resolute however and held on for the full 3 points and a good away win.
