Rob Dunion admitted
he was "relieved" after his Rothwell
Town side saw off fellow strugglers Barton Rovers
at Cecil Street.
The Bones boss said: "I am happy and relieved!
"It was a typical bottom-of-the-league clash and
there were a lot of nerves in both sides.
"In the end it came down to who wanted to win
it more - and that was us. I think we just about
deserved to win it.
"I'm really pleased to get three points and a
clean sheet - it's a bit of a novelty!"
The win marked Rothwell's first double of the
season and saw them pull six points and three
places clear of the final relegation position
in Division One.
Barton arrived at Cecil Street full of confidence,
following two wins on the trot - the latest a
victory over play-off contenders Romulus, who
the Bones face on Wednesday.
The visitors relied a lot on long-throw specialist
Paul Butler - but Rothwell handled this danger
well, with impressive skipper Martin Flannigan
and Bobby White snuffing out the aerial attacks.
The deciding goal came on the hour mark, when
a free-kick on the right was headed on by Shaun
Goodall, and subsequently handles by Ross Hanley.
Robbie Maddox made no mistake with the resulting
penalty, putting Rothwell into a narrow lead.
Dunion introduced new signing Ali Wiltshire for
the last 20 minutes and he showed well, looking
like a good acquisition for the club having joined
until the end of the season.
Bones keeper Stuart Dorrill pulled off a winning
save in the dying seconds at the near post, to
deny the hosts and secure the three points Rothwell
so badly needed.
They now face Romulus on Wednesday and Bedworth
on Saturday - both at Cecil Street - as they look
to build on this confidence-boosting win.
