Rob Dunion was left
disappointed after his Rothwell Town side slipped
to what he felt was an undeserved defeat against
Bedworth.
The Bones boss said: "Sometimes you don't
get out of football what you deserve.
"We played well and created opportunities
to score but we were stunned by a late goal.
"I've no complaints about our performance
and couldn't have asked for more.
"So I can't be too despondent. The result
was disappointing, though."
Bedworth sealed the points with a Robbie Beard
goal on 73 minutes.
A corner was flicked on at the near post and
met by Beard at the far post, putting Bedworth
in front.
Prior to this, Rothwell had started well as Fazel
Koriya, Dan Rogers, Michael Boyle-Chong and Kevin
Byrne were all thwarted in the first 20 minutes.
Bedworth's first chance came on the half-hour
when Aston Jephcott shot over from six yards.
Further chances fell to Koriya and Pete Sneddon
before the interval but they failed to break the
deadlock.
Rothwell continued to press after the break and
a Byrne header was well saved before he saw another
shot hit the underside of the crossbar and bounce
to safety.
Rogers also chipped the home keeper, only to
see the ball bounce off the top of the bar.
Then came the winning goal on 73 minutes. The
Bones threw everything at Bedworth for the remainder
of the game.
But the home defence managed to hold firm until
the final whistle, denying Rothwell a share of
the points. |
