Four goals at the
end of the first half sent Rothwell Town crashing
out of the GX Cup.
That meant a third successive heavy midweek defeat
for the Bones – although they only fielded
three players who started Saturday's 1-0 win at
Barton Rovers in Division One Midlands.
Manager Rob Dunion decided to give fringe members
of his squad the chance to show their mettle.
The game opened with North Leigh going full tilt
and Rothwell's stand-in defence held on until
the 32nd minute when Chris Allen put the home
side ahead.
Within two minutes Mark Simms doubled the lead
then Dan Sadler made it 3-0 and Liam Hope found
time to add another goal before the break.
In the second half Paul Rice was brought on as
Rothwell's system changed.
The visitors did a lot better and had several
chances to score but to no avail. However at least
the Bones' performance had improved – even
if it was too little, too late.

53 mins), Kennedy, Marshall (sub Rice, h-t), Pownell,
