A late equaliser denied
Rothwell Town the win in this BGB Southern League
Division One Midlands clash.
But the point was still very welcome for the Bones in their battle against relegation.
The early signs were not promising as Kevin Byrne had a goal disallowed and strike partner Shaun Goodall then limped off injured on 19 minutes.
But on 36 minutes, Rothwell's luck changed as Martin Flannigan produced a defence-splitting pass for Byrne to run on to and beat the home keeper.
Stourport came back into it in the second half although Byrne had loud claims for a penalty turned down on 53 minutes.
It proved a key decision as the home side then began to exert some pressure.
Despite good Rothwell defence, Swifts should have levelled on 77 minutes, but Will Gayton somehow headed wide of an open goal.
But the equaliser did come four minutes later as the Bones failed to clear their lines and the ball fell to Mark Bedlow on the edge of the box.
He duly fired home a low shot through a crowd of legs that Rothwell keeper Alex Malong had no chance of seeing.
