Tom Smith - Goalkeeper
Tom has been at Rothwell for a number of years and has previously gained experience
by spending time out on loan. A good shot-stopper Tom has cemented his place
in the team with some superb performances over the last two seasons.
Iain Baker – Goalkeeper
A hugely experienced keeper who counts Torquay and Hucknall amongst his former
club. Iain played a few games for us last season and looked good when called
upon. Will provide excellent competition and support for Tom.
Paul Rice - Defender
Entering his sixth season with club Paul is a strong centre back who made
his first team debut at sixteen. A Rothwell born lad, Paul’s consistent
form helped him win last seasons Fans’ Player of the Season.
Andrew Brown - Defender
(no longer with club)
A strong, committed defender, Andy has been at Rothwell for the past two seasons
after joining from our near neighbours Desborough Town. Andy spent time at
a number of league clubs during his youth, before gaining Southern League
experience with his home-town club Corby Town.
Adam Sturgess - Defender
(no longer with club)
This seasons’ captain, Adam rejoined Rothwell at the start of last season
after being released by Grantham. Adam used to play for Rothwell before he
left for Corby and then Grantham. Played as a midfielder last season but did
play as a defender with Grantham and looks as though he will be played at
the back this term.
Ben Greasley – Defender
A young defender who has previously played at Desborough Town during the summer
of 2007. Ben will be looking to gain experience as he steps up a level.
David Blake – Defender
(no longer with club)
David joined us in the summer of 2007 after missing most of last season through
injury. Will be looking to establish himself in the team, should prove a useful
acquisition.
Ryan Collis – Defender
(no longer with club)
Ryan is a young left sided player who is on loan from Kettering Town. He impressed
during our pre-season friendly against Kettering and Minty moved quickly to
secure his services.
Daniel Keddy – Defender
Daniel has come through the Youth and Reserves set up over the past two seasons.
Some assured performances with the reserves last year means he should get
a chance to step up this season.
Martin Flannigan – Defender
/ Midfielder
Former Rothwell youth player who rejoined four seasons ago from local rivals
Rothwell Corinthians. ‘Buster’ is equally at home in the centre
of midfield as he is in defence. Pre season suggests he will start the season
as our holding midfield player.
Michael Boyle-Chong - Midfielder
Michael joined from Stamford three years ago. Whilst at Kettering Town as
a youth player Michael was linked with several League clubs. Since coming
to Rothwell he has established himself in the first team, he has a tremendous
work rate and comes up with some vital goals.
Michael Tolton - Midfielder
Michael is a winger who can play down either flank who joined us from Kettering
Town. Since joining three years ago Michael has looked to take advantage his
chances. Two seasons ago Michael got his chance early on and grabbed the opportunity
with both hands to establish himself as a first team regular. Probably Rothwell’s
most consistent performer last term.
Robert Ritchie-Smith - Midfielder
Robbie joined two seasons ago and has already started to make himself into
a fans’ favourite. Robbie played predominantly for the Youth and Reserves
last season. But has made it into the first team squad several times over
the last two seasons. He is very good at delivering from dead-ball situations
and poses a threat from the flank. Robbie will be looking to gain more first
team experience this year.
Steve Purton – Midfielder
A young, yet experienced, midfielder who joined in the summer of 2007. Steve
counts Stevenage Borough, Hucknall Town and Corby Town amongst his former
clubs. A post on our website from a Corby fan described him as a ‘committed
player who will do well’ for us.
Adam Bridgeford – Midfielder
Adam has joined during the summer from UCL side Raunds Town but has previously
played for Bedford as well as spending time with Northampton and Kettering.
Will be looking to step back up to the level.
Richard Challinor – Midfield
(no longer with club)
Another new arrival, Richard has previously played at Stamford, Corby Town,
Bedford Town and Grantham Town. Richard has looked composed during pre-season
and has played in the middle as well as down both flanks.
Pete Sneddon – Midfield
(no longer with club)
Pete joined during the close season from S&L Corby. He has previously
played for Desborough. Will be looking to step up a level, announced himself
to the crowd with a long range effort against Blue Square Premier side Histon
during pre-season.
Chris Hyem – Midfield
(no longer with club)
A hard-working combatitive midfielder, Chris was captain at Godmanchester
last season. Has looked good during pre-season, should prove a good signing.
Liam McInally – Midfield
Liam is another product of the Youth and Reserve set up. A good ball-playing
midfielder he unfortunately missed quite a lot of last season through injury.
Liam will be looking to force his way into contention and gain experience
this season.
John Stead – Forward
Another new face in the dressing room, John has been at Rushden & Diamonds
and had trials at Salisbury. Looked good in the pre-season friendlies he played
in, seems to be a hard working forward and has struck up a promising looking
partnership with Koriya in recent weeks.
Fazel Koriya – Forward
The pacey front runner signed from Brackley over the summer announced himself
on the scene with the goal of the tournament against a star studded Kettering
team during the A-Line Tournament. Eight goals and several assists during
pre-season have set the Rothwell faithful buzzing already.
Kevin Byrne – Forward
(no longer with club)
A proven goal scorer Kev was released this summer by Corby Town. Has scored
goals at this level and above for both Corby and Stamford. Minty moved quickly
to secure his signature upon his release.
